High Speed Camera image intensifiers UVi Series, PiV Imaging Systems

    UVi Camera Intensifier

UVi Camera Intensifier
The range of UVi camera intensifers are designed to add low light, extended spectral range (from UV to NIR) and fast gating in a compact and all inclusive lens coupled package. Typical applications are in combustion, electric discharge, biomedical and ultra high speed stroboscopic techniques in conjunction with high speed or conventional video cameras.
    Ultra High Speed Framing

UHSi 12/24 Ultra High Speed Framing Camera
Invisible Vision introduces the Ultra UHSi 12/24- an affordable, compact, ultra high speed framing camera. Capable of up to 24 independently programmable frames, 200 million fps (5ns gating) and mega-pixel frame performance. Versatile programmable input triggering modes include 'Synchro' mode (frame-by-frame). Turn-key system includes IVV Imprint¢â multi-camera control, capture and analysis software.
    PiV Imaging Systems

PiV 16-40MiV Camera
Targeted at the high speed accurate spatial and temporal measurement of fluid dynamics, ballistics and other high speed objects. Centred around a nano-second fast gating 40mm UV/Visible image intensifier and a 16M pixel GigE CCD the system offers the highest possible resolution and accuracy. Turn-key system includes IVV Imprint¢â multi-camera control, capture and analysis software. Small, rugged, cost effective

    Image Intensifiers and Intensified cameras

    ¡Ü Intensified High-Speed Cameras

Gated intensified High-Speed cameras and High-Speed camera attachment for high-speed & low light level imaging applications where the object itself is emitting light; such as combustion processes (flames and turbines), dynamic phenomena in living cells that emit fluorescence, etc.

Lambert Instruments specialises in intensified high-speed cameras. High-speed cameras require a higher brightness of the object, the higher the frame rate the shorter the exposure time per frame. In many applications an increase of the illumination can compensate the shorter exposure time per frame. In the cases where the object itself is emitting light at an intensity that is too low for high-speed imaging a dedicated image intensifier is applied to intensify the image before it is projected onto the image sensor of the high-speed camera. The intensified image results in a sensor signal that is typically 10.000 times higher than without image intensifier making it much easier to resolve from the noise. Lambert Instruments applies a 2-stage image intensifier that is fibre-optically coupled to the CMOS image sensor in its HI-CAM camera. Alternatively a 2-stage or multistage image intensifier can be lens-coupled to a high-speed camera for more flexibility.

Advantages of having an image intensifier in front of a high speed camera:
  • The sensitivity increases or high-speed low light applications, for example where the object itself is emitting light at an intensity that is too low for normal high-speed cameras (flames, fluorescence cells, low intensity PIV, electric discharges, etc).
  • There is no need for high power light sources. On places where the heat generated by these light sources will have an unacceptable influence on a measurement an intensified high-speed camera can offer a solution.
  • The possibility of ultra short exposure times. With the gating feature of the image intensifier it is possible to have effective exposure times down to 40ns or even 5ns. This makes it possible to capture even the fastest objects without motion blur.

HiCAM, Gated Intensified High-Speed Camera
The HiCAM is a high-speed camera fiberoptically coupled to an intensifier. The HiCAM, gated intensified high-speed camera allows image recording (up to 200.000 fps) of fast events at high time resolution. At the same time the HicAM, gated intensified high-speed camera offers single photon detection capability. Fast moving objects are recorded sharply by shuttering the image intensifier down to 40ns, optionally 5ns.

¡Ü Intensified High-Speed Camera Attachments

HiCATT, High-Speed Camera Attachment

The HiCATT, high-speed intensified amera attachment was designed to be used in combination with a high-speed camera. The image intensifier HiCATT, will increase the sensitivity of the high-speed camera and allow low-light-level imaging applications at frame rates up to 200.000 fps. The HiCATT, high-speed camera attachment is connected (F-mount or C-mount) to the high-speed camera for optimal flexibility. HiCAM is a high-speed camera fiberoptically coupled to an intensifier.
